• What is NISSAN's CONSULT tool and how does it work ?

    The original NISSAN Consult tool is a hand held computerised diagnostic tool designed to communicate
    directly with the electronic control units (ECU's) in the vehicle.
    Connection to ANY control unit is through a 'Diagnostic Data Link' (DDL) provided in the vehicle.

    NISSAN Consult is designed to perform 3 basic functions (as follows);
    ▫ display the status of the input and output signals read at the control unit (ECU)
    ▫ read the conclusions of the electronic systems Self Diagnostics (error log) and display the name of the failed circuit.
    ▫ instructs the control unit to modify signals of certain sensors and actuators, thereby changing operating conditions
    to confirm diagnosis. (not available for all systems)


  • What is the Conzult Software and how does it work ?

    the Conzult software was specifically developed for the late model 300ZX (Z32).
    It is basically a PC-version of the Nissan Consult 1 tool and offers the same
    functionality plus extra features that are not possible with the Nissan consult.
    Some of these functions are:
    ▫ real time monitoring of nearly every sensor in the car.
    ▫ (temporarily) adjustment of fuel and timing maps, for tuning purposes.
    ▫ manual operation of solenoids and relays
    ▫ checking and erasing DTC error-codes
    ▫ recording, analyzing, saving, exporting and replaying sensor and solenoid data

    Most of all the Conzult software is an indispensable diagnostic tool, which can help you in problem determination.

  • What are the main differences between NISSAN consult and Conzult Software ?

    the Conzult software will run on any windows based PC or laptop, with data logging ability far exceeding Nissan's consult.
    The software can export captured data in CSV-format for reporting or analyzing (in eg. Ms Excel) , Nissan's consult cannot.
    The export of captured data to log files enables you to compare data from different cars or runs.
    The software works a lot faster, more flexible to use and is easier to work with.

  • Will the Conzult Software be able to solve all my vehicles problems ?

    it seems often that references are made to 'conzult' or 'consult' but most may not know what it actually is used for.

    If you own a workshop manual you will see references throughout to a device called 'Nissan Consult' and it's method of use for mechanics at Nissan to perform a particular test.
    The conzult (software) was based on this Nissan Consult tool and along the way we added extra features and possibilities, which are not possible with the original Nissan Consult.

    The Conzult software is a great diagnostic tool, in fact the best available for the 300ZX Z32 to aid/ help in problem determination, but like all diagnostic tools it's only a good as it's operator's knowledge and experience.

  • How is the Conzult Software connected/communicating ?

    Connection for the Conzult software is via the same method as NISSAN consult, being
    the 'Diagnostic Data Link' (DDL) provided in the vehicle.
    This grey connector is usually located under the dashboard (driver's side), near the fuse box
    or close to the hood release lever.

    Some later 300ZX models in the US also have an additional OBD2 diagnostic port.
    The Conzult software will still work on these models by using the DDL connector

  • What are the minimal (hardware) requirements for the Conzult Software ?

    The software runs on most versions of Microsoft Windows (9X/ME/NT/2000/XP/VISTA/WIN7/WIN8/WIN10).
    Minimal PC/Laptop hardware requirements are 400Mhz Pentium processor and 128Mb RAM memory and
    preferably a native serial port.

    Windows mobile/CE, Android, Linux and OSX are not supported, but there have been reports of people running the
    software successfully in a VM or by using WINE.

    (Software) support and updates is valid only to the original purchaser with a proof of purchase from an official Conzult Dealer

    We do not support hardware/software that was not purchased through one of our official dealers.
    (eg. second hand units, illegal copies of our software, hardware/software purchased from Ebay, etc.)

  • Am I able to try before I buy ?

    A limited but fully working version of the Conzult software is available for download: Conzult freeware version

  • Does the Conzult Software come with a manual ?

    The software comes with a comprehensive manual in PDF format.

    For further troubleshooting or diagnostic procedures we recommend using the Nissan service manual.

  • Is the Conzult Software able to be constantly running/attached to the car ?

    Yes, you can leave the cable/software attached and running as you require.
    The software enables you to monitor virtually every sensor in the car in real-time and you will also be able to
    (temporarily) adjust fuel and timing, check solenoids, check and erase error-codes, log data, etc.
    Although it is NOT recommended to make any active changes to the vehicle whilst in motion UNLESS you
    are FULLY AWARE of exactly what these changes will have on the engine and or it's associated systems.
    Failure to fully understand the effects could lead to permanent engine damage & or failure, this is particularly
    relative to the fuel mixture reduction and or igniting timing advance.


  • Is the Conzult software available for other Nissan models ?

    The current version of the Conzult software only works with the Nissan 300ZX (Z32)
    In the past we had a generic version of the software that was compatible with other Nissans, but as of early 2014 we
    have discontinued this version due to lack of interest/sales.
    We suggest to use the Freeware version for these other Nissan models.
